Enjoy an exquisite tea experience with Ishin Iga Black Teacup!
Minoware, or Mino-yaki 美濃焼 refers to Japanese pottery that was produced in Mino Province around the towns of Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kawagoei in Gifu Prefecture. Made using the soil of Gifu Prefecture, Minoyaki is the oldest pottery found in Japan and originated in the 7th century.
Throughout Japan's tea ceremony culture, a common purpose is to pursue the natural state of beauty. Thus you will often see teacups and ceramics formed using natural and coarse clay at first. Mixed with different styles of ancient and modern times, you can see the evolution and tradition of these kilns.

Looks fantastic. However gets super hot to touch ridiculously fast and the glaze/clay is kinda rough on your lips. I'll still use it though :)
Purchased as a birthday gift - arrived a few days early - which was perfect! Daughter loved loved loved this - she's recently gotten into making her own matches and this tea cup (along w/the bowl I also ordered) helped to elevate her morning/afternoon/evening tea experiences
Lovely glazing with an earthy feel and great shape. Great service from this shop as well! Thanks!
