Minoware, or Mino-yaki 美濃焼 refers to Japanese pottery that was produced in Mino Province around the towns of Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kawagoei in Gifu Prefecture. Made using the soil of Gifu Prefecture, Minoyaki is the oldest pottery found in Japan and originated in the 7th century.
Throughout Japan's tea ceremony culture, a common purpose is to pursue the natural state of beauty. Thus you will often see teacups and ceramics formed using natural and coarse clay at first. Mixed with different styles of ancient and modern times, you can see the evolution and tradition of these kilns.

As an artist and ceramist I was surprised by the misrepresentation of color. The tea cups I ordered were not as advertised.
Beautiful yunomi! It is a gorgeous design - it looks prettier in-person - and I am impressed with the weight and quality of the material. Great for my tea rituals. Very pleased.
